I’ve been working on a small product redesign for an internal dashboard, and we started using AI tools pretty early in the process to speed up ideation and UX exploration. It definitely helps generate a lot of directions quickly, but I’m still unsure how much it actually improves decision quality versus just increasing the number of options we have to evaluate. While reading more about how companies are integrating AI into design workflows at scale, I came across this overview of AI in product design practices: https://www.trinetix.com/insights/ai-product-design. It made me think—are teams actually becoming more efficient in decision-making, or are we just shifting the workload from creation to filtering?

I don’t work in design directly, but I’m involved in project coordination, so I often observe how these processes play out. What I notice is that AI doesn’t just affect output—it changes how conversations happen. People bring more ideas earlier, and discussions become more visual and concrete even in early planning stages. But that also means alignment sometimes takes longer because there’s more to agree on. It feels like the bottleneck is slowly moving from “creating ideas” to “deciding direction,” which is an interesting shift compared to how projects used to run.
